UT Faculty
TRIO Student Support Services offers many
one-on-one services to UT students and works with faculty to assist students
who are first generation, low income, or have a disability that
significantly interferes with academic performance. Our goal is to
participate in creating a community of independent learners who capitalize
on
academic strengths and develop acceptable coping strategies for areas of
weakness.
Additionally, SSS encourages each student to learn, discover and achieve their highest potential and embrace, celebrate and respect both diversity and individuality.
TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a program funded by the federal government to help people stay in school and graduate. There are certain guidelines to qualify for membership. If neither of a student's parents has a four-year degree, OR if the student is receiving financial aid, OR if the student has a documented disability, she or he may be eligible for membership.
Students enrolled in SSS can get counseling and guidance, receive help in
keeping track of their academic
progress, are offered career counseling and testing, individual and group
tutoring, peer mentoring, and assistance with
completing financial aid and other important forms. Student members will also
have free access to a number of leadership development and social events scheduled throughout the year, and the SSS facilities
which include a computer lab.
